Twenty five Rotarians from the Rotary Clubs of Alfredton, Ballarat West and Wendouree Breakfast joined to facilitate the running of the Science and Engineering Challenge (SEC) at Federation University in Ballarat on Tuesday 6th August 2024.
The SEC is a nationwide program of practical, science based activities designed to generate interest in STEM subject choices for year 9 and 10 students. The program is designed and implemented by the University of Newcastle across Australia.
Six high schools participated in the event and we were very impressed by the level of engagement the students displayed.
District 9780 Governor Lesley Shedden attended and volunteered with the local Rotarians on the day. Lesley stated "this is a terrific program and a great example of Rotary Clubs collaborating to deliver a positive outcome with community benefit".
