St Oswald's Way - Day 2

Day 2 (Thurs 5th Sept 2024) was actually the first day of walking, with everyone covering the required 19.5km from Lindisfarne (Holy Island) to Belford. The distance could be tackled 2 different ways; 1 - The causeway (slightly longer and easier via the roads) or 2 - The Pilgrim's Way; A tougher but more direct route across the sand and mud.

Not long into the walk, the heavens open up meaning our first days walk was a wet one, immediately testing everyone's wet-weather walking gear.

Pilgrim's Way - tackled by Trevor, Leslie & Michael Lea.
(Sounds like it was pretty hard going).

Visibility on the start of Day 1 was curtailed with the fog

It was ok, the bull was friendly
We walked through fields where a large music festival had been held ... packup was near completion, all that was left were the toilets.
High Speed train crossing require a phone call to authorise a crossing. Garry chanced all our lives; after this call, a train passed, we crossed and Garry called back ... No Garry. When the train passed, Garry was supposed to call back on this phone to get approval to cross.

Just outside of Belford we discovered a small castle that warrented a photo.
