Rob McDougall ... 2005-06

Our club is made up of very special individuals who all give so freely of their time in their endeavour of achieving the ideals of Rotary.  There have been many highlights for me as president during the year.

Our combined Rotary Group 8 dinner with the Honourable Jeff Kennett as the guest speaker was without doubt one of the greatest events that our club has organised. The Balanada room was filled to capacity with 442 people in attendance. We were able to donate $2500 each to Beyond Blue and Australian Rotary Health Research Fund.

Over 30 members of our club walked around the University oval in shifts continuously for 18 hours participating in the Relay for Life and we raised in excess of $3000 for the Cancer Council of Victoria.

The District Conference in March saw 8 members of our club make the trip to Portland for the weekend.

A major event in our year is the annual smoke detector battery changing weekend. This year was a record year for us as a club as we assisted 97 aged and disabled people across Ballarat changing 190 batteries in their smoke detectors.

We had a successful fundraising year and a total of almost $17,000 was distributed to various needy organizations.
