Lidia Aitken ... 1994-95
The 90th year of Rotary provided us with many opportunities to promote what Rotary did in our city through a display in the Myer window. An eight page liftout in The Courier gave an insight into the Rotary clubs in Ballarat and highligted the work and achievements of Rotary.
This year saw us again hold and a successful golf day and the youth committee ran a raffle for their project. Our international committee awarded an Ambassadorial Schlolarship to Nicole Calleja to undertake twelve months study at the McGill University in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.
We were involved in entertaining two intensive care nurses who are undertaking training in Ballarat under the Interplast Programme with the assistance of the Rotary Club of Ballarat West.
Several candidates were successful in attending the CRA National Science Summer School and we sent three students to the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards program at Kangaroobie.
Club members participated in Mock Job Interviews thoughout the year and during youth month we invited young musicians to entertain us at breakfast.
The Youth Committee arranged a barbecue at Peter Jacob's home to welcome IBM families to Ballarat as they prepared to commence work at the new data centre in Mount Helen.
