Joy Rothwell ... 2016-17

This year saw the introduction of a signature event for our Club, the Ballarat Final of the Australian National Busking Championships in March which was a huge success with in excess of 100 buskers lining Ballarat’s CBD in glorious sunshine followed by finalists performing to a packed house.

Our international work continues to provide better living conditions for the community in Ambon with a group of 13 members and partners visiting Ambon.

Locally, our Smoke Detector Battery Changing Project saw 282 homes registered for the service with in excess of 430 batteries being changed in homes of the elderly over two weekends.

Club members collected useable second hand towels for Project Uplift which were sent to Fiji and Papua New Guinea. Members also filled 46 Christmas shoe boxes as part of Operation Christmas Child distributed to children in poverty around the world.

Social functions this year included monthly Friday Night Drinks, the Archibald Exhibition, Christmas Party at Sutton’s House of Music, cocktails night, trivia nights, social dinners,  and of course the Fear No Beer trips.

None of our projects could be achieved without fundraising and this year was no exception
with funds coming from barbeques at the Bridge Mall Farmer’s Market, SpringFest and the Ballarat Beer
Festival and volunteering at the Swap Meet, Beer Festival and our Busking Championships
