Jessie Harman ... 2004-05

This year has been a special one for Rotarians. Right around the world Rotarians and non-Rotarians alike have celebrated one hundred years of Rotary service to the world. It has also been the 15th anniversary of our own club.

Club members have been active during the year with a range of projects both old and new including Blood Bank Challenge, Nerrina Wetlands working bees and our annual Smoke Detector Battery Changing Service.

Other activities have included hosting Group Study Exchange team members from Belgium and our support for the East Timor Demonstration Water Project.

Barbecues were a source of steady income raising more than $3,000 during the year. The wine auction in conjunction with Rotary Club of Ballarat West raised $7,000 and we hosted with Ballarat BMW a round of the BMW International Golf Cup tournament with raised $6,000.

Four working bees were held at Nerrina Wetlands which included planting 100 trees and we nominated five students to attend the Siemens Science School.

We held a very successful Debutante Ball with 26 young people presented in front of 200 family members and friends.
