Gitte Lingaard ... 2021-22

We have come remarkably well through another year marked by Covid-19 in so many ways. And so, here we are, nearing the ‘other side’ of the pandemic, slowly getting back to a something beginning to resemble a pre-Covid normal state.

Reflecting on this year now coming to an end, I stand back in awe at the level to which our membership has risen to face every hurdle thrown at us with gentle humour, having persevered in unwavering support for our club and for each other.

During lockdown, fundraising activities were but a distant dream, but once 2022 arrived and we were able to get together again, the fundraising activities returned with a vengeance; our members stepped up to an extent well beyond what we would have dared to hope for despite the courage it took to mingle with the public in considerably risky situations.

To me, this resilience, friendship, and willingness to serve above self were most remarkable in the face of the difficult times everyone faced.

However, the fact that we can now pass on such an active and positive club to the incoming board is really due to every club- and board member. From the depth of my soul, I thank every one of you for dealing mindfully with everything this year has brought us.
