Bruce Norman ... 2000-01

Major club projects during the year included the Shine On Awards organised by the Vocational Service Committee, the road User Awareness Day and Rotary Youth Leadership Awards through the Youth Committee, the Golf Day through Community Service and Vocational Services the Madang Hospital and culmination of the Nepal Matching Grant project.

For the Madang Hospital project we worked in conjunction with Ballarat Health Services and sent a team of people to Madang in Papua New Guinea to set up a critical care unit at the Mocking Hospital and educate the staff in the use of the equipment.

Our Student Exchange program saw the return of Loretta Davis after almost 12 months in France and the arrival of a bright-eyed Shaelyn Benson who travelled from Soldiers Grove Wisconsin to spend a year of her life with us.

A joint meeting and wine auction night was held in November with the Rotary Club of Ballarat West. It was a very enjoyable evening and with some spirited bidding during the auction raised almost $3000 which was divided between the two clubs.

We welcomed ten new members who joined our club during the year.
