The Soup Bus is OnTrack !!
Craig Schepis from the OnTrack Foundation was guest speaker at our meeting on Wednesday 9th July 2025. The OnTrack Foundation runs The Soup Bus in Ballarat and offers Education Scholarships to help disadvantaged youth attend courses at approved Australian educational institutions.
The Soup Bus provides an after-dark meal service to Ballarat’s homeless and less fortunate through the cooperation and support of the Ballarat community. The service started in 2009 and it took 18 months to build the first bus. Volunteers are at the heart of what they do and they currently have 500 volunteers who assist with rosters, driving buses, food preparation and picking up food etc.
The Soup Bus operates five nights per week in Ballarat Central with a second venue in Wendouree offering indoor sit down meals two nights per week. A second bus is almost complete and they hope to hit the road two nights a week in the Sebastopol area.
The Rotary Club of Wendouree Breakfast has supported The Soup bus over the last twelve months by providing food and meat supplies.
