MPPS Working Bee

MPPS (Mount Pleasant Primary School) is a small school with about 112 students, many disadvantaged. On Wed 10th June 2026 twelve RCWB members joined the school community to conduct an 'Hour of Power' working bee in gardens at the school, followed by a sausage sizzle lunch.

Rotarians, senior students, and some parents were involved in the gardening activity. The barbecue was open to the entire school community and students were asked to bring a gold coin donation toward ‘The Big Freeze’ for MND. RCWB also contributed to the cause.

Two areas were identified for the working bee. After preparation by the environment committee, Site 1 was planted by the students with native shrubs provided by Rotary. Site 2 was weeded, topped up with soil provided by Rotary and planted out by the students.

The sausage sizzle was a huge success, with many returning for more than one sausage. A combined effort by Community Service and Environment committees, the day was considered very successful in bringing together the school community and building pride in the school and its grounds.
