Local Aid Support to Malawi
On Wed 15th April '26 we welcomed Jenny Parker, President of the Mphatso Children’s Foundation (MCF), which provides Local Aid Support to children in Malawi.
MCF was founded by Robyn Casey in response to a great need; to feed the children, grow the community and impact the future. Robyn has been in Malawi and serving the people of the Nkhata Bay Region for over 20 years.
The MCF website can be found at https://mphatso.org
Highlights of the Foundation includes:
Nursery Schools
A cornerstone of MCF is the Nursery Schools. They believe that slow positive change must come from taking part in the community. Each school day, on top of teaching numeracy and literacy, they also feed more than 1,000 children through the 13 nursery school programs, which are spread along a 40km stretch of Lake Malawi.
Children need good nutrition to develop physically and academically to reach their full potential. The success of the program has seen one of the early children through the program has come back to the village as a teacher.
Baby Feeding Program
Those that are seeking help are often in desperate situations such as the mothers have either died or are too unwell to feed their babies. On many occasions women and/or family members walk over 20km to get urgent assistance from Mphatso Children’s Foundation.
Many babies’ lives have been saved because of this program. The Foundation support these babies by routinely weighing and supplying baby formula and as they progress, they provide maize porridge. They are currently supporting 100 babies.
Women's Positive Living Group
Many people in Malawi are living with HIV and AIDS. Mphatso Children's Foundation provides support for those living with this devastating illness to meet on a weekly basis. These gatherings include singing, crafts, sharing a meal together and a real sense of belonging. They also provide finances for on-going treatment and transport for medical care.
