Friends of Canadian Corridor

On Wed 4th March 2026, Bob Hartmann from The Friends of Canadian Corridor (FoCC) gave members a brief history of the group.

The Friends of the Canadian Corridor Incorporated (FoCC) formed in 2012 when the Canadian Forest blue gum plantations were removed, and the land handed back to the Victorian Government to be sold off. Local residents banded together to rescue the land from potential housing development. The group had a vision to turn the waste land into a Multiuse Forest Park, linking the community with Woowookarang and the Canadian Corridor.

The Woowookarung Regional Park was established in 2016 as a result of that vision and the enormous effort by the FoCC members and the local community who convinced the Victorian Government of the merits of establishing the Park.

Today the Woowookarung and Canadian Trails contain significant native forest, unique flora and fauna. Woowookarung Regional Park, Union Jack Reserve, Pryor Park, associated creeks and other reserves all crisscrossed with walk/cycle trails ranging from fully constructed trails to unmade bush tracks.
