On the 13th Nov '24, we also enjoyed hearing from Dr David Golsmith (member of Ballarat West Rotary Club) about the Pacific Island Dental Project and the Dental services offered in Tonga.

The team provides vital education and training support to locals, as well as equipment replacement programs. This also includes the supply of dental services to all primary school children, which is also expanding to secondary students.

From David's many visits to Tonga, his volunteer Dental offering has now been enhanced to include a Humanitarian project. David showed pictures of patients suffering from mental health, with very poor hospital accomodation and no additional stimulation to assist their recovery. David employed the services of a construction company to fix up the hospitals, which included installing TV's & DVD players, so patients can view supplied DVD's for stimulation.

Substantial service to a poor nation, but the health outcome improvements are significant, garnering much support from Tongan officials.
