Community Care Centre Update
Could you imagine not having a home and being without any possessions ? Where is the helping hand ?
Community Care Centre Ballarat (CCCB) provides essential household goods such as furniture and appliances to individuals and families in need, helping them create safe and stable homes.
CCCB is a collaborative project of the six Rotary clubs in Ballarat in partnership with the City of Ballarat and is operated by Rotarians and non-Rotarians who collect, store and distribute donated household goods.
At our club breakfast meeting on Wednesday 17th September 2025, CCCB Chair Gary Morgan and Deputy Chair Warren Payne updated our members on the achievements and operation of CCCB to date.
Working with local welfare agencies, CCCB ensures that people facing difficult circumstances, such as those fleeing domestic violence or homelessness, receive the support they need to rebuild their lives with dignity.
Welfare agencies determine the needs of those requiring assistance and CCCB supplies what is available in the warehouse. Since commencing operation in 2024 over 70 loads of household goods worth $80,000 have been distributed to those in need which otherwise would have gone to landfill. It is estimated eleven welfare organisations have saved around $30,000 in time and money using the service.
Over 2,000 volunteer hours have been contributed so far assisting with collection of goods, cleaning, testing and tagging and storage in the large warehouse. Generous support has also been received from the Bendigo Community Bank Buninyong & District and the Ballarat Foundation.
Community Care Centre Ballarat exemplifies community driven wellbeing and support, especially during these challenging financial times marked by high living costs. The Centre is expected to become a vital resource in Ballarat, setting a model for regional support that will benefit the community for years to come.
