Rob McDougall Library - Ambon

On the 24th April 2026, Rob McDougall's family was present to open a Library built in his name at Schools 2 and 4 in Ambon.

Ambon (Indonesia) is a key international service project undertaken by our Rotary club, where we look after people in Ambon as they looked after Australian Soldiers when they were POW.

Rob's father was a POW, so Rob dedicated much time organising all service trips to Ambon for members of the Rotary Club's of Wendouree Breakfast & Kardinia. Rob unfortunately passed away shortly before the 2025 service trip was due to leave, so an Ambon Education Fund was setup in his honour.

This library was built with funds donated to the Education Fund, we know Rob would have absolutely loved it. A big thank you to everyone who contributed & those who helped to organise it.

We’re incredibly proud to see the legacy Rob is leaving - one that will continue to make a difference for the wonderful community of Ambon. Thankyou.

The plaque on the new library reads;

"Rob McDougall Library - Thankyou for the legacy of knowledge and a meaningful life”.
