Ambon 2025 Highlights
In April 2025, 19 members from the Rotary Club's of Wendouree Breakfast & Kardinia and friends attended a Service project in Ambon (Indonesia), in memory of member Rob McDougall who organised all the trips.
The trip is going ahead in Aug/Sept this year, with expressions of interest being sort from members as the number of travellers is limited.
Members from the 2025 trip gave a summary of their trip highlights, to remind everyone what an amazing experience it is.

Led by member Jill with her terrific slide show of trip images in the background, travelling members recounted;
- The warm musical welcome by smiling children everywhere we went. The children loved their photos being taken and would giggle if you showed them.
- Painting walls of an orphanage to make things brighter for the children.
- Meeting the 12 students we sponsor to assist with their education expenses. We exchanged stories through an interpreter.
- Planting trees with the children on Paraglide hill.
- Experience the food, traditions & ways of another country.
- An amazing privilege setup by Rob, a personal invite from Captain Mark Daly (RAN) for all of us to attend the Anzac Day Memorial Service at Commonwealth War Graves Cemetry, Ambon. Then back to the hotel to attend the traditional ANZAC gunfire breakfast.
And have a look at all the members who retreated to Craigs Royal Hotel after breakfast to discuss the next Ambon trip over a nice mug of coffee.
