We are so fortunate to have one of Australia’s nationally recognised experts in dementia care at this meeting and equally lucky, to have Caroline living and working in Ballarat.

Topic Caroline is going to talk about a Post Diagnostic Support Navigator program she is developing with Sydney University. She will talk about what would have been helpful for the patient and carers following diagnosis. E.g. Linking with services, education, help with paperwork E.g. My Aged Care, having a person to contact when things get tricky etc Caroline is helping Sydney University with developing a service which depending on funding, will be tested in 3 sites, one on Sydney, in Cairns and in Ballarat. Caroline would like a discussion with the participants at this meeting to help her gain feedback on what would have been and is useful to you in navigating the system. This will be a totally confidential feedback session where no names are used in gaining the feedback as part of the program, and you will be asked sign a consent form. This can only improve the outcomes not only for you but for people newly diagnosed with any cognitive disorders to improve the process of finding what services etc are available.
