A crisis can happen to anyone and the Rotary Club of Wendouree Breakfast held a safeTALK suicide alertness workshop on Saturday 20th April 2024.
Attended by fifteen club members, two Rotarians from Portland and eight community members, safeTALK is a three-hour suicide alertness workshop to train participants to become a suicide alert helper.
Participants learnt valuable skills about being suicide alert, how to ask someone at risk if they are thinking about suicide and how to get help by connecting them with life-saving intervention and resources.
By talking about suicide we break down the stigma and provide a safe space for people who are struggling to ask for help.
The workshop was delivered by an experienced Lifeline and Uniting safeTALK facilitators.
