Soup Bus Donations

During May our Community Services Committee were busy organising support for the Ballarat Soup Bus, with $750 donated by the club.

Geoff & Chez delivered $250 meat vouchers from Sinclair Meats to Lynda from the Soup Bus, to assist with its continued operation. Later in May Leearne & Chez delivered $500 worth of grocery items from Shepp Cannery Surplus to Paul Taylor (PT from 3BA).

Pete Corboy from Shepp Cannery offers a 10% discount to the public when they purchase goods specifically for the bus. These goods are set aside for PT to collect when he comes in. Pete advises him when they have a stockpile of donations, either cash or goods. PT comes in, picks relevant groceries depending on the need at the time.

There are other local businesses that contribute to the successful ongoing operation of the bus. The Soup Bus now also operates from Wendouree Community House twice per week, so the need is definitely growing for this much needed community service.

Below are Paul Taylor (PT from 3BA), Leearne and Chez delivering food from Shepp Cannery Surplus to the Soup Bus.

The Soup Bus, Shepp Cannery and PT do a fantastic job keeping this much-needed, well-used service continuing, for those in the community in need. RCWB is proud to be in partnership with them, and will continue our support into the future.

It is not just single, homeless people, but now families with young children, and older men and women, who are now in need.
