Musician Jeremy Beggs

Jeremy Beggs, a Ballarat based singer and songwriter was the guest speaker at our Wed 5th Aug 2026 meeting.
Jeremy, a participant in Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) in 2000, gave us an interesting presentation mixing stories with songs that reflected on his journey in life.
Music has always been part of Jeremy's life. From piano lessons as a kid to playing saxophone through high school and later picking up bass and guitar, music became the place where he felt most at home. After years playing in bands and making music with friends, he eventually stepped out under his own name, chasing a dream that had been sitting quietly in the background for most of his life.
What followed wasn't a straight path. Life brought its share of challenges, including a period that forced Jeremy to confront questions around identity, self-worth, and mental health. Songwriting became a way of making sense of it all, many songs that would eventually become his debut album, The Long Road, were written during that time.
Jeremy sang three songs while sharing his story with us - "Better Me", "Mess I'm In" and "The Long Road", the title track of his CD which traces a journey from doubt and struggle towards acceptance, hope and connection.
Away from music, Jeremy is a teacher, husband, and father of three boys. Those roles shape both his songwriting and his outlook on life.
