Shelterbox & "Football"

On Wednesday 22nd July '26, we had an impromptu guest speaker session as our planned guest was unable to attend.

President Danny Driscoll updated members on the monthly board meeting at which the board;

  • Approved the club operating budget 26/27
  • Approved the recently developed strategic plan
  • Discussed costs of membership and committee goal setting for 26/27
  • Approved a new member application to be circulated to members
  • Heard of changes to market operations
  • Hear about a new event checklist being developed by the PI committee to assist in generating social media content in a proactive manner

We also learnt about the work of ShelterBox, an organisation that partners with Rotary globally, to provide emergency shelter after natural disasters and other disruptive events.

By a quirk of electronic fate the online shelterbox presentation morphed into a full rendition of Have You Ever Seen the Rain by Credence Clearwater Revival which was thoroughly enjoyed by the 35 members present.

The morning was rounded out by an impromptu presentation from Stewart Riddell and Graeme Hankin about football - “The Beautiful Game” – in the wake of the recent Spanish triumph in the World Cup.
