On Wed 12th Feb '25 we enjoyed new member presentations from Anne and Tamara.
Given that Anne joined us in October 2023, her new member talk was a little overdue – it was however great to hear her life story.
From Scottish heritage to her family coming to Australia as “10 pound poms” in 1962 when her father ran the Sunbury Lunatic Asylum to her current life in Ballarat. Anne outlined her working life which started with computer training and finished as co-ordinator of the City of Ballarat’s former in-home care program.
Tamara grew up in a family with a strong community service ethic and first called Ballarat home in grade 9.
Tamara has had a lifelong interest in education. She was teacher trained at ACU and later completed masters studies in the USA and further masters at Federation University where she researched the impacts of community based learning for secondary students. Tamara has had a varied career – she currently works as family’s co-ordinator at The Smith Family.
