Jessie & Harold Present

On Wed 19th Feb '25, our own member, Jessie Harman shared reflections of her time on the board of Rotary International.
She spoke about the incredible internationality of Rotary, evident in the make-up of the board and Rotarians around the world. She reflected on her experience of the audit committee and the careful stewardship she observed for members' dues and donations.
Jessie described challenges of being a director in the time of COVID and went on to highlight Rotary's incredible leadership in the areas of peace, disaster response in Ukraine, and polio eradication.
She concluded by noting that Rotarians the world over are more similar than different - and that meeting incredible people in Rotary was and continues to be the highlight of her Rotary experience.

Continuing the international flavor of the morning, our youth exchange student Harold Sap from Roeselare gave us some “Belgian Fast Facts”.
Did you know?- Belgium has 11 million people in a land area 1/250th the size of Australia
- Or that the Belgian Hockey team is called the Red Lions and won Olympic gold in 2020
- Or that the northern part of Belguim (Flanders) speaks Flemish whilst the southern part (Wallonia) speaks mainly French
- Or the Belgian capital, Brussels, is administrative home of the EU and NATO
Thankyou Jessie and Harold.
