Harry & Penny present

On the 27th Nov '24, when our scheduled presenter was unable to attend, we had two impromptu presentations from Harry Hood & Penny Hamilton.

Member at Large, Harry Hood, regaled the group with stories of his recent trip to SE Asia. Adventures during the recent Typhoon Yagi, an uncomfortable trip home on the plane and recovering funds from a Chinese bank account were included in his amusing stories.

We then heard from Rosemary Waghorne’s sister Penny Hamilton. Penny is a transplant recipient who received her a new heart organ during the Covid 19 lockdown period.

Penny spoke of the trauma of the transplant process and the constant need for donors to register for their organs to be used in transplant surgery. Since receiving the transplant Penny needs to take approximately 50 tablets / day – mainly immunosuppressants. Penny spoke of the need to be constantly aware of her health and her recently acquired hypochondria due to the risks posed by any infections.
