The mission of The Rotary Foundation (TRF) is to support the efforts of Rotary International to achieve world understanding and peace through international humanitarian, educational and cultural exchanges programs.

TRF founded in 1917, is organised as a separate corporation within Rotary International for legal and tax liability reasons.

In 1994 The Australian Rotary Foundation Trust was established to allow tax deductibility for donations to TRF by individuals and corporations of $2 and over.

Individuals donating $100 annually to TRF are named Centurians and are recognised with a pin and certificate.

Individuals donating US$100 annually are named Sustaining Members and are recognised appropriately

Club donations are rewarded with points that can be redeemed as Paul Harris Fellow Awards and more importantly 50% of donations to TRF return to the District Designated Fund for supporting projects initiated in our district.

The Rotary Club of Wendouree Breakfast is committed to supporting TRF with a US$100 per member per year donation.

The Grants Program of The Rotary Foundation

District Simpified Grants

A District Simplified Grant is a tool Rotary districts use to support short-term, humanitarian projects that support the community. In 2008 our club worked in conjuction with the Central Highlands Regional Library and the DSG to supply reading material to support recently arrived immigrants in learning to speak english.

Matching Grants

A Matching Grant is the vehicle that assists clubs to carry out world community service projects in association with Rotarians in another country. The grants are to provide relatively small, once only funding involving personal participaton of Rotarians. In 2009 our club was priviledged to contribute to a project in District 2980 Salem Southern India. Schools in District 2980 had bore water and tanks but the water was too brackish to drink. The project allowed water filtration plants to be installed to remove hardness and unwanted chemicals. The 250 litres of potable water produced each hour is stored in new tanks connected to drinking systems capable of catering for up to 1,500 students.
