PolioPlus 2008/2009

Our club is actively involved in making annual donations to the PolioPlus fund.

The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation have pledged one Gates Foundation dollar for every Rotary dollar donated. This 'Gates' pledge has inspired us to extend our PolioPlus commitment - it is exciting to see dollars double.

To assist us club members have signed on to a loyalty program sponsored by United petrol - for each litre of fuel purchased one cent is paid into our PolioPlus fund. And, at our weekly meetings most members participate in a game of chance with proceeds also committed to the polio fund - member Leigh Johnson re-gifted his win into the fund displaying his commitment to the ideals of Rotary.

At the end of the Rotary year the club's Board of Management will boost the income from these activities to ensure we meet the Gates Challenge of US$1,000 per year.
