2006 Relay For Life - Over $5,000 Raised
This was our first year selling of pizzas to raise extra funds and it was well received by the walkers. Fifty five pizzas were sold and it was a big learning curve for all concerned.
Thirty five members, friends and family walked for the 18 hours and it was a perfect evening. The evening started with a family picnic, so there were lots of helpers to cheer on our walkers. Pizza sales, drink and sweet sales as well as sponsorship this year raised well in excess of $5000.
$2000 of this was given as sponsorship to Dianne Gow who walked in remembrance of her friend, Erin Walls who passed away some months prior. Erin’s husband, AFL Hall of Fame footballer and football commentator, Robert Walls sent a cheque to add to our total. Fundraising in excess of $5000 entitled our team the opportunity to name a research grant. This was named in Erin’s memory.
