Mock Job Interviews

September 1st and 3rd 2009 saw members from the Rotary Club of Wendouree Breakfast embark on an annual project to assist adult students returning to education to prepare for work.

The education programs run by the University of Ballarat, School of Mines campus encompass training young adults in job skills and students who have migrated, or are refugees to learn English and work skills in preparation for employment.

Students were required to prepare a resume and write a letter of application for an advertised position in their chosen field of training. Interviews were conducted in a real life manner with students recieving feedback regarding their personal presentation, application and communication skills.

Members of Rotary find this little project most rewarding as they share their work and life skills with people striving to find thier way in the world.

The Peter Jacobs Award is linked with these interviews; one student who overcomes personal difficulties to participate in education is rewarded with an encouragement award to help them further their life skills.
