Family Fun/Outdoor Movie Night
The Rotary Club of Wendouree Breakfast in conjunction with the Ballarat Turf Club conducted a Family Fun/Outdoor Movie night at the Ballarat Racecourse on Friday 20th March 2009. Proceeds were donated to the Bushfire Victims appeal.
Almost 200 people, or more particularly the children, enjoyed the Jumping Castle, Face Painting, Fairy Floss, lollies, chips, ice creams and snags from the BBQ (all the essential food groups). We were very fortunate to be able to use the BBQ trailer from the Rotary Club of Ballarat East, as well as their 'cook' Allan Gay. We had The Lion King movie on a big outdoor screen, and people settled in their deck chairs and bean bags on the grass in front of the grandstand. We managed to book the best weather possible with the temperature in the low 20s all night.
The Turf Club ran a segrated bar for the parents, and the coffee van was also well patronised.
Great support was received from WIN TV and Radio Ballarat for the publicity as well as The Regent Theatre/Twilight Cinemas, The Courier, McCain Foods Australia, Robert Young Signs and Laurel and her friend from the Salvation Army who did the Face Painting for hours - as well as painting each others faces.
