The Blood Bank Challenge is a Community Service initiative of the Rotary Club of Wendouree Breakfast.
This idea was first trialled in the 2002/2003 Rotary year under the direction of then Community Services Director Andrew Rowan. The aim of the Challenge is to encourage existing donors to give blood and specifically encourage Rotarians to find new donors to join the Challenge by capitalising on the friendly rivalry that exists between Group 8 Rotary Clubs while achieving a community benefit.
Each year the challenge occurs from mid-September to mid December and is open to all Group 8 Rotarians, their families and friends. During the Challenge period the participating Rotary Clubs are also encouraged to arrange a guest speaker to talk to their Club about various aspects of the blood donation process and the benefits a blood donor offers our community.
A perpetual shield is awarded to the winning Club with their name engraved on the shield.
