Ballarat's Community & Family Services Peter Dwyer
Peter attended our meeting of the 16th June to receive a $500 donation to Comunity & Family Services. In accepting the cheque, he told us that, whilst they do receive 85% of their funding from Government sources, support from organisations such as Rotary is vital.
At this stage they receive little from the corporate sector. Some funding comes from operating their own Wozzles Warehouse second hand stores. It really is a local support group and not a government agency as some would think.
CAFS has a particular concern for vulnerable and marginalised people and those in crisis.

CAFS is the main foster care agency and also handles Kinship Care (children in the care of family members). In addition, they have an Early Childhood Parenting Program, provide support for the homeless (there are about 70 -80 kids in "out-of-home-care" each night), Life Guidance, Family and Community Services and a Family Violence program.
The service has grown to a staff of 150 plus another 150 volunteers covering Ballarat, Ararat, Daylesford and Bacchus Marsh.
The overall aim is to assist families and children at risk.
