Matching Skilled Migrants with Job Vacancies

Clare Bennett explained the project "People @ Work' designed to match skilled migrants to vacancies in Ballarat, similar programs are run in other major centres in Victoria.

Skilled overseas workers submit a resume in search of a work sponsor in Ballarat. Clare's position is to seek out local businesses who are experiencing a skill shortage that could be filled by one of the applicants. Skilled migrants arrive on a four year working visa.

The program is intended as a short term fix for the current skill shortage while local residents are recruited and trained to assist industry and commerce to reach their targets aand potential. The service is available at no cost to the employer and with the assistence of Clare to find a path through the paper work
