Nicole Thomas to Spend Twelve Months in Finland

Outbound Youth Exchange Student Nicole Thomas practised the presentation she will be using overseas at our meeting on 9th December, 2009 at the Ballarat Golf Club.

Nicole is looking forward to experiencing life near the Arctic Circle where temperatures will hover around  -20 degrees C. She will live with Rotary families, attend school and activities organised by Finnish Rotary clubs.

Nicole is a very keen sportsperson in Australia participating in many sports so is interested to find out what her sporting options will be in the snow and ice covered country.  Community involvement has also featured in her life in Ballarat so hopefully will have the opportunity to become a valued visitor in the Finnish community.

Her presentation is devised to inform her hosts about Australia and Ballarat encompasses many facets of Australia; environment, history, landmarks, famous people, parlimentory systems etc.

President Kath presented Nicole with cash to assist with her spending money and a collection of Australian badges to give her hosts as mementos of her visit. Nicole will leave mid January 2010.
