Croquet 2008
Ballarat Croquet Club celebrated its 100th year in 2008. Members of the Rotary Club of Wendouree Breakfast joined with them for two fun evenings of croquet. Hit, miss and giggle was more the name of the game.
The Ballarat Croquet Club is located in a small Federation era club house located in Peel Street North. The building is full of atmosphere, old honour boards, photos, memorabilia and original furniture. One of those hidden gems of Ballarat’s history.
Ballarat Croquet Club members gave Rotarians direction and instruction. We used traditional mallets and questioned the fact that the balls really did fit through the hoops. There were some surprising stars amongst us who are currently requesting a return visit. Others of us who were not such stars are also requesting another visit, but this might have more to do with the sumptuous after match fare.
