The Festive Season 2011-2012

The festive season was busy for the club with a number of activities and the opportunity to give to the Christmas Toy Appeal.

A perfect evening - watching the sun change the colours in the sky and on Lake Wendouree, warm with a light breeze and a happy friendly group of members and family. This was the setting for our Christmas party held at the Ballarat Yacht Club held on December 9th 2011.

December 21st, 2011 was the last meeting for the year so with tables set with Christmas decorations and food members were entertained with "pass the parcel". The music provided by Phillip's electronic device was stopped at Phillip's discretion. Some parcel holders received a treat while others had stories to tell or songs to sing in table groups. Father Christmas (alias Fines Master Trevor) arrived clutching his stomach to prevent it from sliding to his knees. It was a valiant effort but unfortunately his bottom was heading south at the same time.

A number of non club events saw groups of members and friend come together for New Years Eve celebrations. This was followed by a picnic in the park on January 4th, 2012 at Lake Wendouree for members, family and friends not away on holidays.

Our first meeting for the year was an informal breakfast at member Brian Harrison's Funeral Home. Maybe an unusual venue but the building and garden outlook is very pleasant particularly when not in mourning. Breakfast was followed by a brief tour of the facility with Brian answering numerous questions about death and dying. Maybe this could be considered not very festive, however the morning was fun just peppered with knowledge.
