Today's Guest Speakers Are Sharon Knight From Lifeline Ballarat and
Luci Mahar From The Lighthouse Foundation
Sharon is currently the Manager of Lifeline Ballarat and UnitingCare’s Family Counselling Services. She is also the Chair of Pinarc Disability Support.
Her interest in disability services stems from having a son with autism and an intellectual disability. She has been involved in the development of the State Disability Plan (as a carer) and has spoken at many conferences, as well as being the subject of “Tom’s Story”, a documentary aired on Radio National’s Health Matters.
She has an honours degree in Social Work, an Advanced Diploma of Business Management and is a Member of the Golden Key Society.
Sharon has also been honoured as being named by Women’s Health Grampians as one of Ballarat’s great women.
Luci Mahar works as the support carer for the William Angliss Lighthouse home in Ballarat, caring for young adults at risk of homelessness. She is one of two carers in the home, which is staffed 24/7 to ensure consistent care.
In addition to working in the home, Luci studies Psychology full-time at the University of Ballarat. She intends to complete a Masters degree in Clinical Psychology and to continue caring for young people and providing them with safe options in their life.
