Scholarships to Help Young Parents Back to Education

Proceeds from the annual Rotary wine auction have been donated to PODS - Providing Opportunities and Delivering Services for young parents - a project of the Ballarat Community Health Centre.

A cheque for $3,100 was presented to Project Worker Deborah Greenslade and CEO Rotarian Allan Murphy.

Applications for 6 x $500 scholarships will be opened in July 2009 and are aimed at young parents 18-23 years.

The scholarship can be used to purchase tuition/fees, educational materials or equipment.

Project Worker Deb explained when acccepting the donation that it is these seemimgly small amounts that often keep young people from returning to education. Deborah will return to speak to the club later in the year to tell us a little about the recipiants and their progress.
