Wendouree Breakfast Celebrate 20 Years Of Rotary

The Rotary Club of Wendouree Breakfast celebrated 20 years of service on 24th April, 2010 with a special celebration lunch back where the club first started in 1990 at The George Hotel.

After drinks and fellowship, MC Rotarian Brian Harrison welcomed current and past members to the celebration.

Charter President, Paul Harris Fellow and  past club member Peter Whitefield spoke about the how the club was formed and re-lived the early days of the club bringing back many happy memories.

A 20th anniversary cake with the Rotary emblem on it was cut by the club's three remaining charter members and Paul Harris Fellows Phillip Lee, Sue Lewis and Judy Barnes and each spoke about what Rotary and the club meant to them.

Charter members who returned to join in the celebrations included Marjory Foo, Andrew Brommeyer, Ann Kerr,  Laurel Johnson and David Vendy (who has since re-joined the club).

Past club members who also joined in the celebrations included Rob Petrie, Joan Williams, Kingsley Cochrane, Graham Bird, Tracey Browne, Wendy Holgate and Maria Van der Scheuren. 

Club Member and District Governor Elect Jessie Harman spoke about the club's place in the Rotary World and current President Kath Venters listed the club's many achievements over the last five years.

President Elect Jane Auchettl and President Nominee Kay Macaulay spoke about the future.

Our newest club member Stewart Riddel proposed a toast to the club and as a newcomer to Australia shared his experience of Rotary since becoming a member.

Once the formalities concluded, members, past members and guests shared stories and enjoyed an afternoon of fellowship.
