They moved to Australia in October last year looking for something new and exciting and in the belief it is a better place for their children to grow up.
Stewart said it takes longer to get into this country now than it used to, it has taken them over two years of form filling and medicals etc, the ships only took a few months.
Both Karen and Stewart are originally from Scotland, both their mothers are from the Highlands, Stewart's from the Isle of Lewis and Karen’s the Isle of Mull. Both their fathers were marine engineers, Stewart's father in the merchant navy then a lecturer at a college, Karen’s running an engineering company.
Stewart's mother and younger brother still live in Glasgow, Karen has two younger sisters, one in Glasgow and the other in Brighton.
Stewart has recently (very recently) started work as an OHS Co-ordinator at the University of Ballarat, which is great. Karen is still looking for work although has had a few days CRT in the schools in and around the area. The girls are at Alfredton Primary School and loving every minute of it.
Stewart's interests include soccer, he is a life-long Partick Thistle supporter and hopes to soon start spoiling it for everybody else by continuing refereeing, golf (a very bad golfer), music (he attempts to get a tune out of a piano accordion) to name just a few. He is a novice to the world of Aussie rules footy but having attended his first match at Eureka Stadium recently he really enjoyed it and may have to opt for The Kangaroos.
